Starting the probate process can feel overwhelming, especially if you’re not sure what to expect or how to prepare. To help you feel ready and make the most of your time with us, here’s an overview of what we typically cover during an initial probate consultation.

What We’ll Cover

  • Confirming the estate’s assets, approximate values, Washington estate approximate value, total approximate estate value, and how each asset is titled (especially those in Washington State);
  • Reviewing the Will and confirming its validity/filing status;
  • Assessing qualifications and willingness to serve as the administrator of the estate;
  • Discussing whether probate is required and, if so, the steps to open it;
  • Identifying any complicating factors;
  • Outlining creditor notice requirements and relevant deadlines;
  • Reviewing our fee structure and next steps if you choose to move forward (we require an advance fee deposit, which can be paid via check, ACH, or credit card with 2.5% processing fee).
